What is the cornea?
The cornea is the clear front aspect of the eye that is used to refract (bend) light to help you see clearly. About 2/3 of the refractive power of a human eye comes from the cornea. The cornea is made up of multiple layers of different cell types and is vulnerable to damage and disease.

It is advisable to have a fellowship trained Cornea Specialist treat your corneal issues given their extensive training and experience with this highly delicate area of the eye.
How do you treat a severely scarred cornea?
Each patient receives customized care based on their presentation and medical history. Depending on the cause of the pathology topical procedures may be of benefit. Other treatment options could include superficial keratectomy or corneal transplantation, if necessary.
